2023-07-08 01:40:04 +0000 UTCThere might be perfectly understandable financial reasons not to do this, but what if we just spin up a nice, old school PIAT forum? No Twitter, no threads, no Reddit, no Facebook, none of these frankly monstrous social media platforms, and no federated system that is frankly still too unwieldy for most people to use. I spent a lot of time on forums back in their heyday, and it's a great format! I know there are hosting costs, but that strikes me as solvable.

"Threads" is likely to get defederated from a lot of other servers because Meta is hostile to the open-source foundations upon which the fedeverse is based. In my mind, there is little incentive to be tied to Zuckerberg's toxic stew when there are so many instances that are... Not that.
