2023-11-04 06:15:36 +0000 UTCSo I went walking around my state capitol building tonight, as I do once or twice a week, and as usual I was listening to The Scathing Atheist podcast. So I have just made it past 2 miles and am on the last quarter of my 7th lap. The last quarter of every lap I pass by a mediocre 10 Commandments statue that you probably heard about in the news several years ago because it was smashed to pieces by a guy's car shortly after it was unveiled the first time. Now they have concrete pillars around it. So as I'm getting close to it I look up and see 20 to 30 people in the crosswalk that leads to it. I immediately say "Fuck!", though I don't know how loud I said it because of my headphones. I knew without even having a cogent thought form in my head that they are all coming to gather around the statue to pray and talk about God while at the same time I am walking around listening to Twunk Daniel interpret dreams. I cut my last lap short and as I got in my car to leave I see them in a semi-circle around the statue, because of course they are, and just start laughing. I decided to take it as a sign from God that 7 laps was enough for tonight instead of 10.

2023-08-17 01:45:39 +0000 UTCI got to listening to this episode a little late, but irony ensued shortly after; I decided to doomscroll on instagram, and a friend of mine shared a picture of the credits of Sound of Freedom from the theatre, captioned "God's children are not for sale," and I got the absolute euphoric bliss of saying to him "but did you know that one of the investors was recently arrested for the very thing this movie was supposed to be against?"
