So someone brought a toothpaste kit from a throwaway line. You should be glad he didn’t bring a 30 second timer and some puppies (from like 10 years ago).

He argued in court (1910) that he should be considered white—and thus eligible for citizenship—because he was from the same region (the Levant) as Jesus Christ. His lawyer emphasized that Middle Easterners (then often called "Syrians") were descendants of ancient Phoenicians and thus part of the "Caucasian race." Also, according to the U.S. government, it has classified people from the Near East and North Africa (including Egyptians) as White. I suspect that they (U.S. Government) had made this distinction because Moses (probably not a real person) was supposedly born in Egypt. You can’t make one of your leading religious figures as non-white. I did a few episodes about the Phoenicians and Carthage but I didn’t bring up this case, but in hindsight, I should have found a way to include it. 2. White Americans (myself included) love to worship this country. In fact, I was on a boat in Key West last weekend and a guy was proudly recording the US flag waiving in the wind. He was so proud that he literally made sure to film it in two different angles to get the best video possible. He was so proud of the videos because presumably, he considers himself a patriot. I wanted to ask this guy if he would be so patriotic if we (white people) were treated like black people, since 1619, and it was black people that were the slavers, then implemented Jim Crowe, and redlined and underfunded neighborhoods, or were not allowed to receive the GI Bill after serving in wars, or overpoliced (war on drugs, for example) and given disproportionally harsh criminal sentences and could kill us on camera and get away with it. Would white people love this country so much that we would sing songs about our patriotism or take pictures of the flag like they’ve never seen it before? In reality, white people are celebrating their white supremacy because they wouldn’t feel the same way about this country if roles were reversed, and we were treated exactly like Black People since 1619.
