2025-10-17 23:21:33 +0000 UTCLean into the advising role Eli! You will probably come to appreciate it, if not love it. The growth you see as an advisor is on par with teaching. You get to see the college students go from freshman floundering about, to people who are ready (or at least willing) to believe in their future and abilities. For all of my 24 years (and counting) as prof, my department required full time of courses and 50 to 60 majors as advisees. Maybe I'm a weirdo, but I have loved helping these students get where they want to be. Faculty certainly don't do it for the pay. (And I would trade more advisees if I could get out if committee meetings....ugh)
