You're right, the original creator did it that way super intentionally. In the Manga the panel with them saying it is kind of off to the side in the corner with all of the other conversation taking up most of the space. You almost feel like you misread it the first time. It's one of my favorite reveals of all time because it doesn't have any real build up in the sense that we are used to!

However, we also noticed in ep1 that he told to the big head mindless titan to stop eatin Mike. But still the mindless titan continued.. So what can we assume about his ability to control mindless titans

I noticed you don't have subtitles for the mid-episode commercial break lore cards. Most of the time those are just neat little worldbuilding informations that are not ultra important for the plot, but there's an exception in one of the upcoming episodes with one crucial information. I don't know if they are included (but need to be manually activated in the settings) on the BluRays, or if you'll have to seek another source specifically for those, just wanted to let you know.
