REAL TIME VIDEO - Ink Portrait Drawing ๐Ÿ–‹

Hi my Dear Potato Angels!

How are you? ๐Ÿ˜Š Iโ€™m happy to finally say I have been drawing quite a lot lately. I practice mostly drawing without an initial sketch. Today I wanted to share with you the process of ink drawing that naturally developed during my recent sketchbook sessions. I find it very pleasant and effective โœ๐Ÿผ

๐Ÿ–‹ STEP 1. First I draw a sketch with a 0.1 mm fine liner (link). The lines are so thin, they donโ€™t interrupt the final drawing so I use them basically as when drawing with HB pencil.

๐Ÿ–‹ STEP 2. I add mid tones with a water pen (link) in which I have a water (obviously) and a 1 or 2 drops of ink. This way I can add planes of shading very quickly.

๐Ÿ–‹ STEP 3. Finally I add black values with a caligraphy pen (link). You can just use a thicker fine liner or a black marker with a brush tip. โœ’๏ธ After that I repeat some of these steps if theyโ€™re needed.

You can see all these steps in the above video. Itโ€™s a real-time but itโ€™s only 16 minutes long - let me know what you think about such content ๐Ÿ˜Š

Hugs ๐Ÿงก

I really enjoyed seeing the portrait build in real time. Loved the idea of a little black ink in the water brush. More please :-)

I think it would work the same but itโ€™s just easier to get a uniform liquid with the ink thatโ€™s already a liquid ๐Ÿ˜Š I like also watercolor ink from Ecoline. Itโ€™s very good.

This is super nice and educational! Do you have any experience with using watercolor instead of ink? I wonder if ink is for the monochromatic effect or because it has any specific properties?
