On the 27th of this month, it will be exactly one year since I started creating AI art. In that time, I’ve made around 10,000 images.

Since about spring this year, I’ve mostly been in a bit of a routine, doing the same thing over and over: writing prompts of varying complexity. I’ve accumulated so many prompts that often all I need to do is swap character names to fulfill a request. So, honestly, it’s mostly become a bit of a routine.

That said, I still try to come up with something new from time to time, and I keep an eye on new models and generation methods whenever I can. But at the beginning, I experimented a lot, trying to squeeze every drop of potential out of AI.

Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately 😅), I deleted most of my early works because they took up too much space—but some remain. So I thought, why not make a few posts sharing my older work and other bits I’ve accumulated over the year?

There won’t be that many posts, because I don’t have that much left, and honestly, I’m not even sure why I’m doing this… but maybe someone will find it interesting, or even get inspired to try being an AI artist themselves.

First up, I want to show a generation method using sketches. I even considered learning to draw properly for this—at least at a sketch level—and even bought a graphics tablet… which has now been sitting in a drawer for almost a year 😏

I had to run the images through an AI upscaler since I used to work in a different resolution.

In the first two images, you can admire my “amazing” artistic skill—a knight I sketched in Photoshop—and in the third image, you can see the result of the generation. This was my first attempt, so obviously, a more experienced user could get a better result:

Unfortunately, the sketch for the next image wasn’t saved. But the idea is simple: start with a drawing of an anime girl, focusing on the eyes, then paint over it with multiple colors (well, we actually paint a few colors and then just copy and layer them in Photoshop), and you end up with something like this.

Basically, if you have a good imagination and some artistic ideas, you can create truly interesting things—even without strong drawing skills.
