Trying out a new technique
Added 2021-07-23 16:28:01 +0000 UTCI use a wet palette for acrylic painting. It keeps the paint wet and workable.
So I figured, if a wet palette keeps paint wet and workable, what if I made one for the painting?
So far, the response is interesting. It extends working time, but not indefinitely. The paint eventually dries.
I used bristol, which has two plies, which means that there are two layers in the paper. This may have something to do with the surface drying. I think with a watercolor paper the open working time might last longer.

That's really interesting! Do you mean the kind that's made for pastels that has the almost sand-paper texture or do you mean that you sand the paper by hand?

2021-07-28 22:13:06 +0000 UTCI usually use watercolor paper for colored pencil because of the extra tooth. But I've switched to sanded paper which works better with my oil based colored pencils.
