Getting back into painting

So I started just going at it on the dragon painting and got immediately very frustrated. I simply don't have enough experience to make up painted images convincingly in a totally new method.

So after spinning my wheels and melting down juuuust a tad I had the smartsmartsmart idea to just paint from my own reference for a while and it was a DELIGHT. Having something to work from and not really worrying about where it's going is so relaxing.

I'm thinking of potentially trying to replace the foreground with something and adding little figures (dragons or whatever?) to it. Also it's very green/blue and maybe I'll add some warmer colors in there. Still not sure.

I'm working on these small, like 4 by 6 pieces of bristol so I can move fast and block things in more easily. It's working a treat!
