Hey. New to the Patreon. Actually first and only so far I follow but the socio-cultural insights you provide are definitionally invaluable.
Had a question for you, FD, and anyone else here ever since all this PD π³ shit has been blowing up.
Simply put. Do yβall have any feeling about or fear towards what cultural..repercussions may come from all of the βcloakedβ language Diddy βusedβ to throw what he was doing in our face but βover our headsβ
My worry is just rooted in that this, to me, feels like the first time our language has been so perverted from the inside. Itβs like the most whitewashed telling of the history will still grant that black slang was borne out ofβamong other factorsβa need for the encaptured and slaved Africans to communicate these core neccessities of expression for survival while primarily not being understood by the overseers etc.
But now. What this puffing diddler has done is use that same language to make the establishment not quite sure if heβs likely as bad as the black community in general has always pretty knownβ¦ for no other reason than to flaunt and abuse his own power in, Iβd say, the most disgusting of ways.
Do you guys think this correlation is relevant or is it more likely that because what heβs done is so extreme that his language use likely wont be used to further generalize all of the community?
