The Necromancer Hall!

Hi everybody,

the Necromancer Hall release is fully finished and shared with you at the links' post.

The dungeon is OpenLOCK, fully modular and comes with two versions: the complete one and the one split for playbility, that thanks to either pins or magnets can be removed during play so that people can see what's happening on the battlefield.

There is a ton of variation for walls (skull fountains!), and the split walls can be combined to make different variants just by switching top and bottom parts. The set comes with 1 inch and 2 inches stairs to make elevated platforms: these require some material support. I suggest using either cardobard or foam since that is way cheap and reliable than using resin for that purpose. Below this elevated platform you can build a complete inner chamber where your Lichs hide their philacteries. All these info are contained in the instruction folder of the release too.

There are two Objects sets this month: Necromancer Hall objects and props and some classic dungeon traps! Both these sets have skeleton decorations that are delicate but printable: I made several tests to find the best balance between scale and printability (especially for fingers and rib cages), in an attempt to make skeletons that are not in a heroic "thick-hand" scale. These decorations print well, but I highly advise to use warm water to remove the thin supports, otherwise some parts will break. In any case, since these are Necromantic decor, some broken bones will improve the look, I believe! There are also skeleton-less versions of these objects.

The Traps set has also a skeleton victim that, thanks to the thin nature of the model, can be bent and glued to fit traps or other terrain.

Finally, the miniatures for this month are some heavy metal chained warriors. The standing skeleton can be used as a decoration in walls' alcoves, ready to spring into life and punish those who dare intrude into the Necromancer Hall!

That's it! I really like these models and can't wait to print a full set of those skeleton columns. Thanks for the support, and don't forget to vote for February's release!

I wish you a happy new year and a happy hobby time! :D

That's a good idea - although I am not that good of a painter (and have so little time!) :)

You should post painted minis from time to time, just randomly so no one starts to expect anything specific so you don't pressure yourself.

Yeah, I was planning to use some Zandri Dust/ochre to cover the sparkle before going for the lighter tones, but that may not be enough!

Making Tlon

That's an idea. Wonder how well you can cover any metallics with bone white.

Artists such as Iain Lovecraft, 3D Layered Scenery, Dragon Workshop and others have similarly practical solutions, in which a piece of filament is always inserted from above or below and then serves as a hinge. Technically, this type of hinge is just a combination of a simple vertical hole through the door leaf and its frame with a slightly rounded hinge side of the door leaf, but it is extremely strong and works very well. The advantage of such a functioning door is that it can be opened and closed at any time in the game without having to rebuild anything, which is extremely useful in dungeons with their many doors.

Also, I'm sending you a message for the refund if you want, you shouldn't be paying double :)

I just sent you the redeem for MyMiniFactory. I did a full round the second of january but I saw you joined a few hours later so that's why I missed you! Usually I keep sending redeem invites as people join, but I have to do that by hand and sometimes delays happen.

Making Tlon

I get that! I plan to do all the metal first on mine (maybe even with a primer) and then go over the bones, but I haven't tested this yet (time is soo little!).

Making Tlon

Thanks! Working hinges are still something that eludes me - they break off too easily, I'll put more testing into it :)

Thank you!

Looks amazing! And just what I needed for an upcoming session, can't wait to print!

That's cool, I'll have to check it out. But I'm still not sure, I'd have to get the paint down into the nooks and crannies without getting it all over the skeletal bones. But that's okay there's plenty here to print that I love and I never get to it all anyway.

Aaron Bono

Good news though! Army Painter is coming out with metallic speed paints in the future, so that may help.

So do you send the files to MMF at some point or do we have to download them on google I was a member with tribes but I didnt get anything last month so I quit and joined here instead I know you wanted us to ask but I was a longtime member so I already owned everything you offered so I was out of luck, so I paid for nothing last month.

Lisa Kellogg

Pretty dang cool. I like all the pieces but I'm not sure I'm going to print the skeletons with the chains because my first thought when I saw them was how difficult they're going to be to paint those chains. I love all the rest of the scatter though, got to print all that.

Aaron Bono

Beautiful set, but workable doors wouldn't hurt for sure...

Spielweltenschmiede

Amazing!
