December WIP and January Poll Results

Hi everybody,

after an initial setback, the Hawkstone Pass is almost ready! In the WIP preview render above you can see a large part of the release: mainly the modular scaffolding structure and the palisade. Objets and props and a couple more things are still in the making.

The aim for this set was to make a system that would allow real 3D combat, and this scaffolding system delivers on that. It can be assembled modularily on all dimensions, it comes with kibash variants, and it is customizable with details to change its vibe (these are just hinted in the renders above). With these models, a few magnets and toothpicks you can make basically any ttrpg map that needs scaffolding. Maybe your characters have to cross a wooden bridge over a chasm, maybe they'll venture in the bandit camp that blocks the pass -as the one shown above - or maybe they'll roof chase an assassin down to the edge of town, where the walls are under repairment after the last siege. Just a few ideas!

I mentioned a setback - which is also the reason for this radio silence - that's because I originally designed a different scaffolding system which, however, did not stand up to the modularity I aimed for. This is the result of the second design, and I am really happy how it turned out. I'll provide detailed instruction on how the system works with the final release (it is very intuitive, actually). Most of it is sturdy enough (with a bit of glue) that it can support OpenLOCK tiles, if you want to combine this with other sets (e.g. the Pirate Village would work great with this).

You can expect a few more models - mainly the bandits objects and props - with the full release, which should be up no later than the 5th of December. That re-design really took time, but I hope the wait will be worth it.

Finally, the poll results for January are up! The Cathedral of the Martyr wins. I can't wait to move back to something made of stone after all this wood!
