SwS progress in September, and goals for October
Added 2021-10-02 22:25:27 +0000 UTCAs is evident with my last post, the biggest update from September is that I was able to update and clean up my playtest document in google docs enough to post it on itch.io as a playable test of the game!
-confetti- !!!
This represents a huge step forward on the development of Songs we Sing since it'll give folks a chance to play the game, see what works, and report anything that's confusing or which just doesn't work.
The biggest additions since the start of the month are:
-An existent GM section
-A barebones quickstart section
-Bonds & Debts have been overhauled in how they work.
-Basic Moves have all been slimmed down in size and verbiage to be more to the point. I've also cleaned and added descriptions to them to help guide when to use them.
-Classes have been renamed to Gigs
-Gig and Kin playbooks have had an editing pass done on them to bring them up to date with the bond & debt changes, as well as improve/add/remove some moves.
-Denizens are cleaned and a few more examples were added along with bestiary.
-And just tons of general rewrites, edits, and fixes done. Just way too many to list tbh.
It was a super busy month!
Going into October
A lot is done, but this still so much more to do! This is far from the final form that SwS will take. There's more moves to write, more mechanics to add and tighten, and more lore about Wake to write. I finally have ground to stand on to do more work now though.
I've just got a chance to catch my breath after crunch mode last month, so I'm still unsure what order I'll tackle the next steps, but those steps will be:
-Tackling straggling edits/typos
-Updating the layout to something way better looking in Affinity Publisher, which will give me way more control of what I'm adding than the hellscape that is google docs (If you've ever had to add images to microsoft word, it's just as much of a terrible experience)
-Adding more bestiary entries with art
-Expanding the world building in the Wake section
-Working on a system to create and expand upon places in Wake. The idea I have so far on it is to combine what once was in an area, and what's there now. For example: Once this place was a city, but now there's a forest here.
-Adding more playbook moves and improving weaker moves.
-Just making more interior art in general
Things are coming up Gen lately, so I'm pumped to keep working hard on this! Thank you all for your support, and I hope you all have a great halloween!
