Dude that's so creepy who knows what you could have been exposed to

Griffinmane

Kaleb blessed my ears ๐ŸŽต

Ace 1nst1nct

I had always assumed it was a chemical, idk why, sending a chemical in the mail as a way to harm fits more in my brain than a biological weapon

Grelk

Ive lived my whole life next to the facility that the Reston Ebola was studied at. Grew up as a kid knowing nothing about it, once I learned about it I never could look at the building the same. Itโ€™s just some office building now, funny how those things go

Caton Fuller

An episode on Dr. Tyrone Hayes and atrazine would be really cool, or looking into the bodies at Roop Kund Lake

Justin the Hunter

Very surprised that Isaiah doesnโ€™t know what anthrax is.

Western Philosopher

Yall shoud do the Chichijima incident. It involves president Bush Sr. Very interesting

Josh

Longer episodes pleaseeeeeee!

Greg

BSL-4 facilities are also extremely rare.

Justin the Hunter

Anthrax caused by an infection from the bacteria Bacillus anthracis, so it is a biologic and not a chemical. It is usually reserved for BSL-3 facilities. A friend of mine works with this in her lab currently. The biosafety level ratings are designed around how infectious, how dangerous, and how readily available treatment measures are for a particular pathogen or microbe. BSL-1 is generally for microbes that have little to no pathogenic effects on humans. BSL-2 is generally for microbes that can/do infect humans but only have a moderate amount of hazard associated with them. This includes things like staphylococcus, E. coli, Salmonella, Hepatitis, and even HIV (in the US, it's BSL-3 in Europe). BSL-3 is generally for more exotic microbes and diseases that are a lot more infectious and have a moderate to high risk/hazard associated with them. A big point here is that immunizations are available and required (I think?) to work with these agents. Some microbes found in these facilities include tuberculosis, West Nile virus, the plague (Yersina pestis), and several other bad/exotic viruses. BSL-4 is generally for EXTREMELY hazardous and infectious agents that can cause acute infection or death if inhaled or otherwise exposed. These are typically reserved for crazy things like the Ebola virus, Marburg viruses, smallpox, and hemorrhagic fever that often times have very limited or no treatment options at all. -Current PhD student ๐Ÿ˜…

Go more in depth

CheeseCake King

calling this "human experiments" made me think you had proof of legitimate nazi style torture, a few chimps and the possibility or the origin of lyme disease was a bit under whelming given the title, though its ultimately better to hear about this rather than what i was expecting

Simon Hughes

Isiah and Kaleb singing is one of my favorite moments in official history

i really love the show but the australia bad jokes are getting really stale

ClayHasLlamas

Aw, those guys are *barely* even deadly.

Western Philosopher

Don't forget copperheads over here in maryland

Ethan Kelly

The rest of them will only kill you if you provoke them, or accidentally get too close, or youโ€™re between them and their babies, or theyโ€™re especially hungry, or theyโ€™re especially horny, or if theyโ€™re in a bad moodโ€ฆ

Western Philosopher

And only ten are almost guaranteed to kill you on sight.

Western Philosopher

And of those, only like seven of them actually go out of their way to hunt and eat humans.

Western Philosopher

Iโ€™m so glad that here in America, our list of highly dangerous wild animals is so short. I mean, we only have the Kodiak bear, crocodile, bison, newt, brown recluse, grizzly bear, bull shark, moose, cougar, wolf, jaguar, coyote, alligator, rattlesnake, bark scorpion, tiger shark, cottonmouth, sidewinder, black bear, great white shark, black widow, mosquito, bobcat, killer bee, tick, polar bearโ€ฆ

Western Philosopher

Anthrax is a bacteria, maybe you got it mixed with asbestos? Idk

Ethan Kelly

I think wendigoon is trying to trick us into thinking that he is a conspiracy theorist who is suspicious of the government. But he is actually a federal agent. Just look at his responses the facts are there just open your eyes man.

Matthew Doig

New drinking game: Take a drink everything the southern accent is used or USA is chanted.

The amount of times Iโ€™ve touched myself to this podcast should be illegal. (It is)

Bandos Godsword

Holy shit itโ€™s already been about a year huh

Bandos Godsword

I actually have worked in the facilities at plum island doing their building automation! Some seriously creepy stuff I've seen and heard at that place. And the protocols are absolutely insane.

Kreon

jackson the people have to know if there will be a special episode for the red thread 1 year anniversary next month?

cas.ko

Don't forget that the paralysis tick can cause the same meat allergy that the lone star tick does

Ethan Kelly

yo holy shit no way when the thread is red

matt dudas

Haven't finished the entire podcast but I'm pretty sure anthrax is a bacteria not a chemical.

Succubussimp

Woke up in cold sweats craving Jacksonโ€™s voice

Iโ€™m experimenting with Jacksonโ€™s plum.
