I would’ve liked to have a black American host as a guest just to provide some additional context as to how black people perceived MLK jr & his importance to the civil rights movement. Great episode overall though! Love you guys

But with this case, it's so stupidly beyond obvious that the government did it Edit: you guys really needed wendi for this one. Iirc the sex tapes were audio and wasn't with a mistress, but was with his wife with the fbi pushing the narrative that it was King cheating. You guys need to redo this with wendigoon. You missed so many important details, like the tree blocking the view of king's room from where the shot was supposedly taken that was conveniently cut down at 5am the next morning.

2025-02-04 19:29:12 +0000 UTCYou brought up what the opinion in the north was about MLK and I’ll try to shine some light on that. At least what I know. The north was still very much racist. The difference is that in the south it seems more concentrated with groups like the KKK and judges and such being in on it. While the north was more of a passive hate. In fact the north even had sundown towns. I live in rural Illinois and not even an hour from where I live there is a town that historically was very racist and it was illegal to be in town after the sun went down if you were African American. There are actually a lot of towns around me that used to be like that. The one in particularly I remember people saying there was an actual sign up saying it was a sunset town as you drove in. As for general feelings, I live in a very small town of around 500 people. There’s maybe one or two diverse families in my area. My grandpa grew up here in the 60s and he tells stories of his generations old people being harsh to black people. Not wanting to associate, walking on opposite sides of the street. Generally just not liking them, and there was some that were worse than others. One story that sticks out to me is a guy who went to the state fair and as soon as a black performer walked out on stage he got up and made him and his wife leave. He was even angry talking about it. The north, at least in the rural midwest, was still very much racist. It just wasn’t as passionate as the South. If you are interested in a good movie or just scene to better capture opinions on blacks in America look up the movie Mississippi Burning. It’s based on a true story and lacks some historical accuracy (glorifies the FBI a little too much) but it’s a really good movie with Gene Hackman and Willem Defoe. There’s a bunch of good scenes but I’ll link one specific one where Gene’s character is talking about his dad to Willem. Not that there's anything wrong with Caleb, but I just didn't really feel entertained by him in the same way I was with Charlie before he left, and Kiera in the last episode. Another reason that I enjoyed this episode a lot more than others is the way Jackson and Jordies interacted with the information. The discussion between the two was so entertaining that I paused my game and listened to what they had to say whereas usually I'm only half paying attention and mainly use the podcast for background noise, and replay only choice moments that stood out.
