So many if not most consumers of games have to choose “do I want to spend money and time on this game or the other one”. With a YouTube video there is no monetary cost and in 99.9% of cases no meaningful time investment in watching them, whereas there are both in purchasing games. He brought up the “two cakes” thing so imagine it like this — You work hard on your cake and make something you’re proud of, bring it to a farmers market or whatever where you wanna sell slices. Little did you know Gordon Ramsey or whoever the fuck makes famously good cakes suddenly pulls up with his new formula of cake that has been anticipated for years — and it costs the same to get a slice as yours. Andrew’s YouTube comparison is more like if it was a giant free cake tasting buffet or like. Wine tasting event idk. Where everyone can go around and takes bites of whatever they please. Anyone can choose to have yours and Gordon’s without investment preventing you from doing both. (I’m not even on the side of the people whining about silksongs release and price, that argument just seemed so ridiculously silly to me)
