Tablet arrived

Good news! the new tablet arrived safe and sound and Iโ€™m making the first test ๐Ÿ˜Š As I imagine I had to pay an extra of $165.41 of import cost (slighty less than I expected)

Total price: $765.41

(Sorry for the picture quality, this time I took them with my phone so the lighting and focus is not as good as it could be)

For those who don't know, since I started learning the basics of digital art (2008), up until now I've been using the same exact drawing tablet for everything! needless to say I've got a good mileage out of it.

And it's not like it's malfunctioning or anything, surprisingly it's working as good as day one, but I figured that over the years, some improvements must have been made drawing tablets, and I always wondered how much those changes could have an impact in the way I draw... To paint you an example, back when I bought the old tablet, the pressure sensitivity of this model were around 512 levels, now they range above 8000 levels.

Either way, Iโ€™ll keep the old tablet as a spare in the worst case the new ones start malfunctioning, I never had a backup before so I always worried of what would happen if I accidently broke the only one I had.

So far Itโ€™s working perfectly, the size is around the same as my other monitor, so all the icons, lettering and apps have a good size and I donโ€™t have to squint to find something XD

This monitor tablet can also be used as a regular tablet by unplugging the HDMI cable, and itโ€™s around triple the size of drawing area of my old one, so in case the image quality started faulting for one reason or another, I could still be able to draw on it.

I have noticed that the upper side of the screen gets slightly hotter the more time I use it, but Iโ€™m going to assume that Itโ€™s normal for now. I havenโ€™t been able to confirm if the same happens when youโ€™re not using it as a monitor.

For the time being Iโ€™ll be using it as my primary monitor Iโ€™ll keep it check to see if I notice any other oddities.

Besides that issue, as I imagined, itโ€™s a whole new world to be able to draw on the screen.

I have waaay more control over strokes during the inking process and it feels more natural, and I was also able to skip  cleaning sketch in one the attempts, so hopefully this would lead to significant changes in the way Iโ€™ve been drawing until now. Time will tell.
