In Western terms, the Tang Dynasty matches early medieval Europe (around the 7thโ10th centuries), while the Ming Dynasty lines up with the Renaissance (1400sโ1500s). So you can imagine an actual mirror is basically something so rare and new to them and it was given as a gift to the high-rank concubines of the emperor.

With this episode I really feel Maomaoโs character more, she always says that she doesnโt want trouble or to get involved but sheโs so nice that she canโt turn a blind eye, and her curiosity overweighs that itโs gotten to the point that sheโs involved in national political issues which is cool. And the trust she has built for herself is such a power move, one of the best MCs๐
